Chung Arong believes that artworks have mysterious and magical power as if an alchemist turns an ordinary rock into gold, and draws a world where stories containing personal histories are mixed with memories, fantasy or imagination going beyond the reality. She draws fragments of a mysterious world using classical methods such as egg tempera and metal point drawings. With an interest in symbolic signs that were used in witchcraft in the past, she is recently implementing a series of abstract artworks combining icons and symbols with pictorial images.
At Incheon Art Platform, she will concentrate on preparing for a solo exhibition and various group exhibitions to be held in 2017. She intends to show artworks based on egg tempera painting technique, a series of 40 on-going abstract paintings about witchcraft symbols and stories accessing the reality and fantasy through artistic installations.
